Bayelsa State Governor's Wife promise to support Medical Lab. Scientists in the state

The Wife of the Bayelsa State Governor, Dr. Mrs Gloria Diri has assured the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria support to achieve set goals .


Dr. Diri gave the assurance when She granted audience to the Executive Members of the Bayelsa Branch and Federal Medical Center, Chapter at her Conference Hall, Government House Yenagoa.

The First Lady noted that the contributions of AMLSN to the success of Medical profession can not be overemphasized given their distinct healthcare delivery role which is evidence based.

She said, their service is equal and not subservient to other services in the Health Sector hence requiring all the desired assistance.


While promising to collaborate with AMLSN through the Gloria Diri Foundation the First Lady expressed optismism that their Challenges will be addressed with the involvement of all Critical Stakeholders in line with due process in no distant time.

Earlier, Chairman of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria Bayelsa Branch, Dr.Eni-Yimini Solomon Agoro in his speech said the Association came on the visit to Congratulate the First Lady on her upliftment, intimate her of the forth coming Medical Laboratory Scientists Week, the 3rd in the series sheduled for 7th through 13th of December, 2020 and also solicit her support to ensure the success of all the activities.

According to him, the theme, "The Place of Medical Laboratory Science In Resolving Infertility Conundrum" was carefully chosen to educate the people on available solutions to infertility.


He however, highlighted the non availability of the Directorate of Medical Laboratory Service in the Hospital Management Board and Ministry of Health, Non absorbtion of interns after graduation, implementation of enhanced entry circular and consequential adjustment on wages, a bus for the Association among others as major challenges.


The Association's Chairman lamented that the absence of these basics have affected the efficiency and productivity of members of the Association.
