This week our 'NigerianMedLabScientist of the Week' is Scientist Ogundokun olusegun Olufikayo.
We closed up with him and below is how the interview went.
Let's meet you sir?
FIKAYO: I am Ogundokun olusegun Olufikayo, A Medical Laboratory Scientist with keen interest in Molecular Genetics and Quality Assurance. I am the CEO of Irequa Consultancy Ltd, a company solely interested in rendering services on Training professionals in Total Quality management, Laboratory set-up, Equipment sales and services.
Tell us about your company, when was it established?
FIKAYO: Irequa Consultancy Ltd was established precisely 4th June 2019. We have been able to render our services to many Hospitals and laboratories viz-a-viz: Premier specialist Hospitals, Crestmed Laboratories, Prim rose specialist hospital, Famacare Diagnostics
Edo specialists hospital and presently Lilly hospital.
Wow! Are these signature projects?
FIKAYO: Yes, we set-up Molecular laboratories for some while we set-up Total quality management system for us.
Are there current jobs you are working on?
Fikayo: We are currently setting up BSL-3 Molecular lab for Lilly Hospital. This lab will serve the south-south region of the country and this Lab will be the first indigenous private BSL-3 Molecular laboratory.
We are also presently working with Edo state government in mentoring their lab for ISO accreditation.
What has been the motivation behind your work?
FIKAYO: Motivation behind my work is simply passion to the work. Once you have passion and determination to a particular course, you will definitely make it in the area.
What's your advice to young Medical Laboratory Scientists out there?
FIKAYO: my advice to young scientists is that they should never give up. They should be focused, have an entrepreneurial mind and always think outside the box. They should forget about what the profession can do for them and start thinking about what they can do for the profession.
Obstacles full everywhere but always see them as stepping stones to greatness.
And finally, always ask for Grace and put God first.
